Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Qutrek, Treks, and exploring the world.

What is Qutrek?

Qutrek is the world's social exploration platform, where explorers and locals share authentic experiences from real places across six categories: Activities, Landmarks, Stays, Moments, Culture, and Nature.

Is Qutrek free?

Yes. Qutrek is completely free to download and use. All core features, including discovering content, building your profile, creating Treks, setting up a Business Account, building your map, and connecting with the community, are available at no cost.

Is Qutrek available in my country?

Qutrek is available worldwide on both the App Store and Google Play. Download it from anywhere and discover places, cultures, and experiences from around the world.

How is Qutrek different from Instagram or TikTok?

Every person on Qutrek is here to discover or share something meaningful about the world. Every Trek is tagged to a real location and one of six categories, so you can search any destination and explore what explorers and locals experienced there, from adventures and landmarks to local culture and hidden nature.

You build your own map, track every country you've visited, and watch your life journey grow over time. The format is deliberately fast and condensed, so discovery becomes part of your day, not a distraction from it. Qutrek isn't another feed to scroll through. It's the world, waiting for you to explore it.

How is Qutrek different from TripAdvisor or Booking.com?

Those platforms are built around transactions; they show you what's available to book. Qutrek is built around discovery and community; we show you what's worth experiencing, through the eyes of people who've actually been there. We're where the urge to explore begins, long before you reach the booking page.

What is a Trek?

A Trek is Qutrek's core content format, a short visual experience made up of 1 to 8 photos or one 60-second video, connected to the real location where it was captured and categorized as Activities, Landmarks, Stays, Moments, Culture, or Nature. It's your way of sharing the world as you experience it.

How do I create a Trek?

Tap the + button, select your photos or video (up to 8 photos or one up to 60-second video), add a caption, choose a content category, and confirm the location. You can create a Trek on the spot using your current GPS location, or save your location while you're at a place and create the Trek later. You can also upload past photos and tag them to where they were taken.

8 photos, 60 seconds, one Trek — that's all it takes to show the world something incredible.

Do I need to be at the location to create a Trek?

Not necessarily. Every Trek requires a verified geographic location, but you don't have to create the Trek on the spot. Qutrek lets you save your location while you're at a place and create the Trek later, so you can enjoy the moment first and share it when you're ready. You can also upload past photos and tag them to the location where they were taken. The core principle remains the same: every Trek is tied to a real place, verified by location data captured when you were actually there.

Can I upload past photos?

Yes! During onboarding, Qutrek invites you to upload your favorite past photos and tag them to their locations. This is a great way to start building your personal map and contribute to the community from day one.

Can I edit or delete my Trek after posting?

Yes. You can edit your caption and category, or delete the entire Trek at any time. Deleted Treks are removed from public view and permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

What content categories are available?

Qutrek features six categories: Activities things to do anywhere in the world; Landmarks for monuments and historic sites; Stays for hotels, hostels, and unique accommodations; Moments for selfies, sunsets, street scenes, and everyday magic; Culture for food, festivals, traditions, and nightlife; and Nature for the raw beauty of the natural world and wildlife.

What is the personal map?

Your map is a visual record of every country you've visited and shared through your Treks. As you post more experiences, your map fills in, becoming a living reflection of your journey across the world.

Can I see other people's maps?

Yes. Public profiles display their map for anyone to see. For private accounts, you'll need to connect with the user first. Either way, it's a great way to discover who's been where and find experienced explorers in the destinations you're curious about.

Why does Qutrek need my location?

Location is what makes Qutrek work. Every Trek is tied to a real place, and that's how users discover content by destination. We access your precise location when you create a Trek or when you save a location for later Trek creation, and only with your explicit permission. We do not track your location in the background.

Can I use Qutrek without sharing my location?

You can browse and discover content without granting location access. However, you'll need to enable location permissions to create new Treks, since location tagging is mandatory for all content on Qutrek.

How does Qutrek protect my privacy?

We take privacy seriously. We don't sell your data. We don't track your location in the background. We use encryption, access controls, and industry-standard security measures. You have full control over your data, including the right to access, correct, export, or delete it at any time. For complete details, see our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account and all my data?

Yes. You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, Treks, and personal data. Backup copies are purged within 30 days. Account deletion is irreversible.

Is my data shared with advertisers?

No. Qutrek does not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. Your discovery feed is powered by the community.

How does Qutrek moderate content?

We currently rely on human moderators who review reported content against our Community Guidelines. For the most serious violations such as child exploitation, terrorism, and non-consensual images, content is removed immediately and reported to law enforcement.

How do I report inappropriate content or a user?

pen the Trek or profile you'd like to report, tap the report option, and submit your reason. Our team will review the report against our Community Guidelines.

Can I block another user?

Yes. You can block another user at any time from their profile or through the available options in the app. Once blocked, they'll no longer be able to interact with you on Qutrek.

What happens if someone violates the Community Guidelines?

The action taken depends on the type and severity of the violation. A user may receive a warning, have certain features restricted, or be banned from Qutrek. We also use a trust score system to help identify repeated or serious violations and keep the community safe.

How can I request my personal data or exercise my privacy rights?

Email support@qutrek.com or use the in-app privacy settings under Settings > Privacy. We respond within 30 days (EU/GDPR) or 45 days (California/CCPA).
